INTRODUCTION

For the 10 thtime EAHP is inviting you to the Annual Congress, where hospital pharmacists will have an opportunity to meet, network and share best practice and keep abreast of developments in hospital pharmacy across Europe from 16th to 18th March 2005. For this 10th EAHPAnnual Congress, the Scientific Committee has decided to focus on Hospital Pharmacy and Economy, and the Organising Committee will be pleased to welcome you to Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.

The Congress is established as the premier educational event of the year for hospital pharmacists in Europe and we are grateful to our Portuguese colleagues who are hosting the EAHPcongress for the second time. We are confident in the success of the surroundings, and it is no disadvantage that the weather probably will be kind to us. The main theme of the scientific programme will be "Hospital Pharmacy and Economy", and the seminars will cover basic, intermediate and advanced levels. Your participation in the Congress will contribute to your Continuing Professional Development: in 2005 we aim to have the Congress accredited with the American College of Pharmacy Education (ACPE), as in 2003 and 2004. In addition to the main theme, the Congress programme will also offer a variety of other relevant topics for which the Congress has become recognised as the premier educational event worldwide in the spring season of each year for hospital pharmacists. For the first time the Organising Committee has decided to arrange an "Educational Seminar" on a specific topic for junior hospital pharmacists. The Portuguese capital Lisbon was the safe harbour from which many explorers sailed out and discovered new lands. Make a note of the date now, and join us in 2005 for the challenge and discovery of the future of hospital pharmacy science and practice.
