It is my great pleasure to invite you to the 15th Annual Congress of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists in France, my own country, in the beautiful city of Nice, from 24 to 26 March 2010.

The main theme of the congress is ‘Focus on pharmacotherapy – hospital pharmacists advancing patient care’, a promising subject every hospital pharmacist should feel concerned about.

As in previous congresses, the programme will feature a variety of other timely cutting-edge topics, which has led to the EAHP congress being recognised as one of the worldwide premier educational events for hospital pharmacists during the spring of each year.

EAHP’s annual congress is the largest congress for hospital pharmacy in Europe and is attended by colleagues from all over the world. This provides you with a unique opportunity to meet, network and share expertise and best practice with colleagues while keeping abreast of the latest developments in hospital pharmacy.

FOREWORD BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE

Dear Friends in European Hospital Pharmacy,

The theme of the 2010 Congress has been decided as “Focus on pharmacotherapy – hospital pharmacists advancing patient care”: The role of the hospital pharmacist in prescribing is developing across European hospitals
due to the shift in responsibilities of the hospital pharmacist. At the same time, the process of drug evaluation in individual therapy is becoming a more complex and multidisciplinary process involving the hospital pharmacist. We are ready to take action in the clinical process, as pharmacology for many years has been one of the main topics for the pharmacist. So, why don’t you prepare yourself for the clinical oriented work, if you not already are in it, and join the 2010 EAHP Congress in Nice having the theme: Focus on Pharmacotherapy – hospital pharmacists advancing patient care.

The focus of the congress presentations will be on new breaking pharmacotherapies within already established treatments of a.o. HIV, infectious diseases, cancer and diseases of the heart and lungs. At the same time, having focus on arrears where therapies are developing nearly every day along with new drugs, reports on clinical trials and other findings are mowing the therapy toward new frontiers.

To increase the relevance for the everyday life of the hospital pharmacist, we will try to have speakers from our own profession to be sure that you will be able to carry new and ready to use skills and information back home for implementation in the daily routine.
