Development of educational seminars well under way
EAHP news
Apart from its yearly congress, EAHP offers two other face-to-face means of education to its members: the Academy (EurAHP) summits www.eurahp.eu and the Foundation seminars.
Following the successful educational initiative in 2007 (biotechnology) comes the 2009 Academy summit, entitled “Evidence Based Medicines”(EBM). It will take place 14-17 May at Loughborough University in the UK. Addressed to hospital pharmacists who have some experience in the field of EBM, this high level seminar will boast the latest knowledge in the field, and will be run on an interactive basis so that attendees are also learning by practicing. Sixty participants are expected. They will work in small groups and will leave the summit with a “tool box” that will allow them to then teach the subject back at home, following the “teach the teacher” pattern. The event is by invitation only. More information is available on this website.
The Foundation seminar is designed for Eastern European countries, members of EAHP who have joined the EU after 2004 – and the newest members of the association. The next seminar, entitled “Quality Management and Leadership” will take place 15–17 April 2009, in Vilnius, Lithuania, and will feature experienced speakers who will help the attendees grow as future pharmacy managers. By invitation only, the Foundation seminars are for groups of about forty people and held as hands-on workshops.
