EAHP answer to the High Level Pharmaceutical Forum consultation on information to patients
The High Level Pharmaceutical Forum (HLPF), a joint project from the DG Enterprise and Trade and DG Health & Consumers launched in April 2007 a consulation on how to best informe patients.
Under the leadership of the EAHP Board, the EAHP secretariat drafted the EAHP opinion on the provision of health related information to patients and the general public. Its main points are:

- the EAHP questions the legitimacy of the HLPF and therefore the validity of this consultation
- The EAHP does not see the need to repeat an exercise that has been done by other EU bodies which findings are still accurate and to be put in action
- the EAHP recommends an EU accreditation of existing sources on how to provide the best information to patients
- the EAHP urges the EU decision makers to consider hospital pharmacists as a solid source of information to patients and as key partners in the reflection on how to best treat patients or patients to be.
