EAHP at ADKA Congress
Press release
Dr. Roberto Frontini, President of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists, addressed a welcome speech to the participants of the 100th ADKA Congress, which took place last 12-14 May 2011 in Berlin, Germany . Roberto Frontini started his speech by remembering the audience that ADKA had recognized very early the importance of an engagement at European level, being one of the founding members of the EAHP. He then stressed the fact that in Germany the hospital pharmacists still have to strive for recognition and that with an average of 0,38 hospital pharmacists every 100 hospital beds, Germany is one of the European country with less hospital pharmacists. As Frontini stated, only 22% of the German hospitals have their own pharmacy, while in many other European countries every hospital is provided with an hospital pharmacy. Frontini pointed out the fact that Germany cannot remain one the last country in Europe for hospital pharmacy service, and according to his point of view it is a primary role of the politicians to approve the right laws which will allow hospital pharmacists to dispense the correct drug therapy for in-house patients.
