EAHP welcomes a new member: FYROM
The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
The General Assembly meeting on 5 and 6 of June 2008 welcomed the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia as the 29th member of the EAHP.
The Hospital Pharmacy section is a newly formed part of the Pharmaceutical Chamber of Macedonia.
The main objectives of the Section include: establishing and developing the best practices in the hospital pharmacy, providing professional support to the hospital pharmacists and promoting and upgrading their expertise.
The Hospital Pharmacy section of the Pharmaceutical Chamber of Macedonia has 46 hospital pharmacists. There are 58 health care facilities for hospital care serving a total population of approximately 2 036 000 (number of inhabitants).
In FYROM, the main activities of the hospital pharmacist are:

In FYROM, the main activities of the hospital pharmacist are:
- procurement of medicines, medical devices and disposables;
- dispensing drugs to the hospital wards;
- ensuring safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medicines;
- as well as preparing and quality-checking sterile medications under special conditions
- the patient’s treatment decision-making process;
- counselling patients on the effects, dosage and route of administration of their drug treatments;
- monitoring every stage of medication therapy to improve all aspects of delivery and report patient side effects
