1. Current Status, Position

Dr Eva Meyle (Hospital Pharmacist Specialist, PhD)) is a Hospital Pharmacist specialist in the Parmacy department of the Heidelberg University Hospital.

She is working mainly on Antibiotic Stewardship , e.g. Antibiotic Use, Resistance, Surveillance Topics:

  • Consulting clinicians during ward rounds and in-house pharmacist colleagues on Antibiotic use
  • Antibiotic Stewardship Expert
  • Leading Member of the in-house Antimicrobial Therapy working group
  • Surveillance on Antibiotic Use: Documentation and Interpretation of Antiinfective Use measures

Dr Eva Meyle is also specialised in Pharmaceutical Management of Clinical trials (non-oncology in-house trials but also in responsible position in the pharmacy's GMP unit manufacturing mainly oral Investigational Medicinal Products for nationwide clinical trials)

She is a member of the Antimicrobial Therapy Working group of the national hospital pharmacist organization (ADKA e.V.) where she is responsible for providing summarys and short discussions of new guidelines in the field of antibiotic therapy nationwide to hospital pharmacists.

2. Education

Dr Meyle graduated in 2006 from Heidelberg University and received her pharmacist licensure in 2007. She started part-time working in her current position as pharmacist in the Pharmacy Department of the Heidelberg University Hospital in 2008 and in the same year she began her PhD thesis (Institue for Immunology of Heidelberg University Hospital) which ended up with her Doctor's graduation in 2013. In 2014, Dr Eva Meyle earned her degree as Hospital Pharmacist Specialist and in 2016 she obtained her Antibiotic Stewardship Expert certificate.

3. Research Area

Dr Eva Meyle is interested in the field of Hospital Antimicrobial Stewardship form the point of view of Antimicrobial pharmacists. She is working on topics regarding the surveillance of antibiotic use and on optimizing antibiotic use measures, e.g. in pediatrics. Furthermore she is working on in-house Antimicrobial guidelines and performs trainings on rational antibiotic use for clinicans and pharmacy colleagues.
