1. Current Status, Position

Prof Hervé Maisonneuve (MD, MBA) is currently Consultant in scientific writing.

Previously, he practiced clinical medicine for ten years in the hospitals of Lyon. After spending 10 years in clinical development in the pharmaceutical industry, Prof Maisonneuve joined the "Agence Nationale d'Accréditation et d'Evaluation en Santé (ANAES)", Paris, in 1994, initially as Clinical Guidelines Director and later on as Evaluation Director. He was responsible for the development and implementation of clinical guidelines, consensus conferences and the evaluation of health care professional practices throughout France.

Prof Hervé Maisonneuve was the director of education at the Strasbourg surgical training center (2000-2004) and was managing the educational activities of the French Alzheimer plan (2009-2012). Since then, he is consultant in medical writing and medical education. Prof Maisonneuve was Associate Professor in Public Health department, Paris-7 University (2003-2005) and Paris-Sud 11 University (2009-2012). He was closely involved with leading medical international journals through his role as a president (1994-1997) of the European Association for Science Editors. Prof Hervé Maisonneuve, MD, was a board member of the JAMA (1997-1999) and the editor-in-chief of European Science Editing journal (2000-2006). He was president of the Game Alliance for Medical Education (2006-2009).

2. Education

Prof Hervé Maisonneuve, MD, is medically qualified from the University of Lyon with business administration qualifications (MBA/HEC, Paris).

3. Research Area

Prof Hervé Maisonneuve has a special interest in Public health with emphasis in publishing (peer review, authorship, scientific integrity). He has published books and papers on medical writing and he was associate editor of the EASE Science Editors' Handbook (2013).
