1. Current Status, Position

Mrs Inga Urtane (Dr Pharm, Master's degree in Health Sciences (Clinical Pharmacy)) is currently:

  • Clinical pharmacist and research assistant, Latvian Centre of Cardiology, Paul Stradins Clinical University Hospital in department of Cardiology.
  • Teaching practice - Assistant Professor, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Riga Stradins University (Courses "Medical Chemistry", "Pharmaceutical chemistry", "Clinical Pharmacy").
  • Supervisor of research works for students of pharmacy.
  • Participation in research projects:

             - "Drug therapy problems and risks in patients with cardiovascular disease and type II diabetes", 2014-2017
             -  Characterization of B. afzelii outher surface proteins and the development of diagnostic markers of Latvia-specific Lyme borreliosis, 2013-2016

Mrs Urtane has a degree of a Doctor of Pharmacy (Dr Pharm), Promotion Council in Pharmacy of the Riga Stradins University (Speciality – Clinical pharmacy, subspeciality – Clinical cardiology). Theses: Role of genetic factors on the effect of modified clopidogrel doses to provide effectiveness of personalized treatment in patients with hyporesponsiveness. (2014)

She also has a master's degree in Health Sciences (Clinical Pharmacy). Riga Stradins University (2009).

3. Research Area

Mrs Inga Urtane has a special interest in:

  • Analysis of antiplatelet therapy used in cardiology, the lack of therapeutic effect: potential risks caused by drug – drug interactions during hospitalization, also in case of antimicrobial treatment;
  • The role of genetic factors in antiplatelet therapy;
  • The lack of treatment adherence in patients with prescribed antibiotic therapy - a multivariate analysis of the causes, markers of development.
