1. Current Status, Position

Marilyn Stebbins is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and the Vice Chair of Clinical Innovation in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the University Of California San Francisco School Of Pharmacy.

2. Education

Dr. Stebbins completed her undergraduate studies at UC San Diego in 1984 and her Pharm.D. at UC San Francisco School of Pharmacy in 1988. After the completion of her Pharmacy Practice Residency at the UC Davis Medical Center she spent 7 years developing and implementing pharmacist-run clinics at the VA Outpatient Clinic in Sacramento, California.

3. Research Area

As faculty in the School of Pharmacy since 1996, Dr. Stebbins’ work has focused on developing innovative practice models in the physician group practice setting with an emphasis on serving the underserved through cost-effective medication management programs, team-based care and transitions of care. With the passage of the Affordable Care Act and the need for more community-based providers, her goal is to extend her work in the physician group setting and to develop innovative team-based practice models in the ambulatory and community pharmacy setting. Her current research interest is in the transition of pharmacy care from the acute and post-acute setting back into the community with an emphasis on patient safety and an accurate medication list through these transitions of care.
