Current Status, Position

Dr Hein van Onzenoort is currently a Hospital Pharmacist and Director of Pharmacy at Amphia Hospital Breda. He is responsible for the department of pharmacy in general, and more specifically of clinical trials and scientific research.

Education

Dr Hein van Onzenoort studied pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Utrecht and became a licensed pharmacist in 2003. He started a PhD at Maastricht University in 2005 on adherence to treatment in patients with hypertension. Since 2008, he has worked as a hospital pharmacist for St. Jans Gasthuis hospital in Weert and for Radboud University Medical Centre in Nijmegen.

Research Area

Dr Van Onzenoort’s research focuses on adherence to treatment, epidemiology, and medication safety. He is specialised in adherence research and the application of several different adherence measures into clinical trials and observational research. Within this context, he studies the effects of patient empowerment on drugs spillages and medication safety. Dr Van Onzenoort supervises several PhD students.
