2012 will also see proposals published by the European Commission in relation to medical devices regulation as well as ongoing pan-European discussion about the future of health services in view of the economic crisis.
EAHP will monitor these, and other legislative proposals by the Commission, closely and make appropriate representations on behalf of the hospital pharmacy profession.
Current and emerging issues
In addition to this, emerging issues in 2012 which EAHP is taking a close interest in are small scale production in hospital pharmacies in view of a recent EDQM resolution on the preparation of medicinal products in pharmacies, and current medicines shortages being experienced across countries and health systems in Europe.
EAHP is a formal stakeholder to the European Medicines Agency, an active member of the European Public Health Alliance, takes part in the European Commission's stakeholder group on ehealth, and develops bespoke collaborative projects with a wide range of partner organisations in the European pharmacy and secondary care sector (e.g. PGEU, EIPG, ESCP, ESOP, HOPE, EHMA, etc).
