1. Current Status, Position

Drawing on extensive personal and community experience, Sam Barnett-Cormack is available as an expert patient wherever such input is desired, in research, policy making, professional development, or any other area.

2. Education

Although both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees suffered interference from his complicated medical life, Sam completed a first degree in Mathematics and Computer Science (Lancaster, 2007), and masters degrees in Advanced Computer Science (Lancaster, 2008) and Educational Research (Lancaster, 2014). He has put skills from these qualifications, and those developed independently, to a wide range of uses, including in service to the wider community of those with long-term health conditions.

3. Research Area

As an expert patient, Sam has provided a patient voice at professional development events, conferences, to research steering groups, and worked as a member of England's National Institute of Health and Care Excellent Guideline Development Group regarding adults with multiple health conditions. Sam's particular areas of expertise include mental health, sleep disorders, and the impact of health conditions and treatment on daily life.
