Current Status, Position

Mrs Anita Hogg is currently Lead in the regional Medicines Optimisation Innovation Centre (MOIC) in Northern Ireland and Principal Pharmacist in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust (NHSCT). She is responsible for leading and developing best practice in medicines optimisation through research, innovation, quality improvement and knowledge transfer and collaborates widely with colleagues across Europe.

Education

Anita Hogg studied pharmacy at the University of Sunderland and registered as a pharmacist in 1994. She obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Supplementary Prescribing in 2004 and qualified as an independent prescriber in 2009. In 2014, Mrs Hogg obtained an MSc in Clinical Pharmacy with Queen's University Belfast.

Research Area

Mrs Anita Hogg has more than 20 years' research experience in the safe and effective use of medicines, with a focus on the ward pharmacy team in secondary care, transitions in care and post-discharge follow up. This work has contributed to informing the transformation of pharmacy services in Northern Ireland and has led to number of publications on these themes and extensive collaboration across Europe.
