1. Current Status, Position
María currently works at the Winton Centre for Risk and Evidence Communication. In her four years at the Winton, María worked to improve risk communication in health and journalism. Currently, she continues teaching risk communication independently and working as a science journalist.
María studied Veterinary Medicine and an MSc in Animal Health focused on breast cancer at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM); she graduated in 2011 and 2013, respectively. In 2015 she studied an MSc in Science Communication at the University of Sheffield. Before joining the Winton Centre in 2019, she worked for a decade as a science journalist on TV and radio.
3. Research Area
Maria’s research focuses on improving risk communication within healthcare settings, particularly in transplants, Covid-19 and treatment options.
