Current Status, Position

Dr Hein van Onzenoort is currently a Hospital Pharmacist and Director of Pharmacy at Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre.

Education

Dr Hein van Onzenoort studied Pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Utrecht and became a licensed pharmacist in 2003. In 2008 he registered as hospital pharmacist and in 2012 he received his PhD on adherence to treatment in patients with hypertension. Since 2008, he has worked as hospital pharmacist for St. Jans Gasthuis hospital in Weert and for Radboud University Medical Centre in Nijmegen. From 2018 till 2021, he has been director of pharmacy at Amphia Hospital Breda. Currently he is director of pharmacy at Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre.

Research Area

Dr Van Onzenoort's research focuses on adherence to treatment, epidemiology, and medication safety. He is specialised in adherence research and the application of several different adherence measures into clinical trials and observational research. Within this context he studies the effects of patient empowerment on drugs spillages and medication safety. Dr. Van Onzenoort supervises several PhD students.
