Prof Dr Annette Schuermans is Head of the department of infection control and prevention of the University Hospitals Leuven and professor at the Faculty of Medicine.

2. Education

Prof Dr Annette Schuermans graduated at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 1990. She specialized in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases in 1998 and Infection Control and Hospital Hygiene in 1999. She obtained her PhD degree on MRSA nasal carriage in 1998.

3. Research Area

Dr Schuermans' research focuses on MRSA infection control in hospitals, outbreaks, long-term care facilities and disinfection.
