The European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP) has issued a call for abstracts for its 2013 Congress in Paris.

The Abstract Poster Walk is a highlight of EAHP’s Congress, displaying concise information about: hospital pharmacy practice innovation; the introduction and assessment of new technologies; new understandings about pharmacotherapy issues; and the key findings of many other evaluative exercises from hospital pharmacies across Europe and beyond.

Any hospital pharmacist may submit an abstract to the EAHP’s Scientific Committee who will then consider its inclusion in the Congress poster display. Accepted abstracts will be published in the official Abstract Book that is issued to all Congress attendees, will be available to view via the EAHP website following the Congress, and will be included in the Congress edition of the European Journal of Hospital Pharmacy (EJHP).

Every year, at the conclusion of the EAHP Congress, 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place prizes are awarded to the 3 abstracts that have most impressed Judges with regards to aspects like originality, scientific quality and practical applicability.

Opening the call for abstracts, Prof. Dr. Kees Neef, Chair of the EAHP’s Scientific Committee, said:

“The EAHP Congress poster display of abstracts is an excellent opportunity for hospital pharmacists to showcase noteworthy and interesting scientific work that they have been involved with; and to allow a wider professional audience to be informed by it.

I would like to give my personal encouragement to any hospital pharmacist with a project to share to consider submitting an abstract. As professionals we have much to learn from each other’s work - but it is crucial that pharmacists come forward to share that information at events like the EAHP Congress.”
