1. Current Status, Position
Dr Peter Declercq is currently a hospital pharmacist at the University Hospitals Leuven combining back and front office hospital pharmacy services, with special interest in antimicrobial therapy and parenteral nutrition. Dr Declercq is also engaged in the education of future (hospital) pharmacists at the Department of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences of the KULeuven.
2. Education
Dr Peter Declercq studied Pharmacy at the University of Gent and became licensed pharmacist in 2007 and graduated as a hospital pharmacist in 2008. In 2010 he fulfilled the Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Leuven (KULeuven). In 2018 he obtained a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences at KULeuven for his work on optimising antimicrobial management in surgery patients.
3. Research Area
Dr Declercq's research focuses on optimising antimicrobial management, with special interest in difficult to treat bone, joint and foreign body infections in trauma and orthopaedic surgery patients. Besides, as part of the Home Total Parenteral Nutrition coordination team of the University hospitals Leuven, his work also focuses on parenteral nutrition management.
