3. Research Area

Olivia is a Reader in Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment, and leads the Evidence Synthesis Research Prgoramme at the Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment (HEHTA) Unit at the University of Glasgow.

Having developed a keen interest in epidemiology and health economics, Olivia's research focuses on evidence synthesis, risk prediction modelling, and economic evaluation of health care interventions; in particular, the application of these methodologies to multinational observational data. Olivia has undertaken research in a variety of clinical areas including cardiovascular disease, haematology, obstetrics and gynaecology, and rheumatology.

In addition to her research work, Olivia is a member of the UK National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) Technology Appraisal Committee and a member of the Scottish Chief Scientist Office’s Health Service and Population Health Panel. She also supports the development of clinical guidelines developed by the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN), both in evidence synthesis and health economics.

Olivia has been an invited speaker discussing evidence synthesis in different clinical areas and decision-making in health technology assessment at meetings held in the UK, Europe, USA and Asia.
